Mark and Mary Blake Foster, residents of Roland Park, had a difficult time finding salvaged usable materials in their home that they were renovating. In 2001, they created Second Chance, a non-profit with a mission to reuse materials and keep them out of landfills. Second Chance is also a job center, training employees in marketable hard and soft skills. It oversees 250 teardowns per year and accepts donations at its 200,000 square foot retail center at 1700 Ridgely Street in Baltimore. Come listen to Mark talk about the history of Second Chance from its inception to the recent creation of their Concept House in Hampton, which showcases how these salvageable goods come together to create an extraordinary environment.
